About the symptoms of double vision, many people do not know the difference between the double vision that can be corrected by ICL surgery and the double vision that cannot be corrected by ICL surgery.
This column will tell you about the differences and the double vision that is incurable by ICL.
The difference of the double vision is not noticeable when viewing with both eyes, so we can cover one eye and compare.
①If the double vision remains when one eye is covered, the cause may probably be astigmatism. If the double vision is due to astigmatism, it can be corrected with ICL.
②If the blur disappears when you cover one eye, there is a high possibility that the position of the eye is related to “strabismus”. This cannot be corrected with ICL.
Strabismus is a vision disorder in which the eyes do not properly align with each other when looking at an object. It is common that one eye is looking forward while the other eye is looking inward or outward.
Intermittent strabismus is a disease that only occurs under certain conditions. For example, using smart phones or computers for a long time can lead to fatigue and pressure, which may cause strabismus in one eye. People usually have normal vision; temporary strabismus occurs only under certain circumstances.
A similar symptom is heterophoria which refers eye condition in which eyes cannot align with each other due to the lack of effort to maintain the sight. normally, both eyes are looking forward, but one eye may be slightly offset due to the long-term computer work or fatigue. Usually, this condition is temporary and does not cause double vision or blurry vision.
Our clinic is specialized in ICL surgery, we do not treat strabismus.
