Eye drops before and after ICL surgery are used to prevent infection, congestion, and inflammation, but many patients ask questions as follows:
“How many drops are there in each bottle?”
“How many days can each eye drop last？”

Each bottle of eye drops prescribed before and after ICL surgery contains 5mL.
1 drop is generally about 30 to 50μL(0.03～0.05mL) .

※The amount of 1 drop is depending on factors such as the properties of the liquid (viscosity and surface tension), the shape of the top of the eye drop bottle (the inner plug), and the way eye drops are used.
When the container is tilted, the surface tension is proportional to the horizontal distance of the top of the container, so the amount of 1 drop is less compared to when the container is dropped vertically.
In addition, when you lean the container of a highly viscous eye drop, the eye drop may be transmitted to the tip of the container, and the amount of 1 drop may increase.

If 1 eye drop is 50μL（0.05mL）, it is about 100 drops for a 5mL eye drop bottle.

If each bottle contains about 100 drops, let’s see how many days it can be used.
Depending on how many times the eye drop will be used, how many days the eye drop can be used will also change. This time I’d like to make an example of 4 times per day for both eyes.

If you use 4 times a day for both eyes, you will use the eye drop 8 times per day, so you will use 8 drops per day.
The formula for how many days each bottle can be used in this cause is:
100 drops÷8 drops＝12.5 days

You can use a 5mL eye drop 4 times a day for both eyes for about 12.5 days.

Since there are some patients who cannot use eye drops very well, the use of eye drops may increase, so 12.5 days can’t be stated unconditionally, but it still can be a reference standard.
