Greetings from the Surgeon
I started myopia treatment back in 1993, before LASIK, and I was in charge of PRK clinical trials at Tokyo Medical and Dental University. Back then, when myopia can only be corrected with glasses or contact lenses, being able to see with the naked eye through surgery is an epoch-making achievement, and many patients are delighted with the surgery. Since then, I have been engaged in refractive surgery. Because of the improvement of surgical precision and the popularization of myopia surgery, I have given speeches at domestic and foreign academic conferences for many times. Starting with the LASIK in 1996 and the ICL (intraocular lens implantation) surgery in 2007, the clinical results of more than 12,000 cases of ICL have been reported in academic papers (ref. 7) , and many patients have undergone this surgery.
Recently, ICL, which was unfamiliar to many people several years ago, has become well known to many people and has become the first choice for the treatment of myopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. Not only does ICL improve quality of life (QOL), but it also increases the number of patients who want to undergo surgery because they feel the importance of being able to live without glasses or contact lenses in the event of a disaster. Through my 27 years of experience in various refractive surgeries, I sincerely hope that everyone will know ICL as the most recommended corrective surgery, and that as many people as possible will be able to experience the joy and relaxing of being able to see things with the naked eye.

Intraocular contact lenses (ICLs), which have been attracting attention in recent years. There have been more than 50,000 cases of ICL (intraocular contact lenses) in Japan. Because the ICL is implanted in a clean eye, it is a maintenance-free, semi-permanent lens.
