Necessity to limit contact lens wear
To undergo ICL surgery, you will need to complete two examinations (an initial examination to determine ICL suitability and a second examination to determine your ICL lens power). Therefore, you must refrain from wearing contact lenses before each examination.
Necessity to limit contact lens wear
We will explain why you need to refrain from wearing contact lenses before your examination.
<Reasons>
・Because contact lenses affect the shape of the cornea, it is hard to accurately measure the shape of the cornea (see image below).
・If the shape of the cornea cannot be measured accurately which may lead to errors in determining the lens power.
・If errors occur, myopia or astigmatism may remain after surgery, and the desired correction vision may not be achieved.
・ If errors occur, the lens power may be too strong, causing overcorrection.

※The shape of the cornea can change this much before and after the restriction on contact lens wear.
Time limit for contact lens use
The time limit for wearing contact lenses varies by lens type.

Please stop wearing soft contact lenses two days before the examination.

Please stop wearing soft contact lenses two weeks before the examination.
※If you are using orthokeratology, please stop wearing them for one month.
day
If you wear hard contact lenses and it is difficult for you to stop wearing them for two weeks, please switch to soft contact lenses for two weeks and then stop wearing them for two days before the examination.
※Depending on the examination results, you may need to be tested again.
◎For the initial consultation suitability examination and the examination to determine lens power, you will be required to restrict the wearing of contact lenses before the test.
◎On the day of the examination, you will not be able to wear contact lenses until the examination is completed.
◎After the examination to determine lens power is completed, you may wear contact lenses until the day before the surgery.
◎On the day of surgery, please do not wear contact lenses and be sure to come to the clinic with your bare eyes or glasses.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the restrictions on contact lens wear, but we kindly ask that you understand and adhere to these restrictions, as they are necessary to obtain accurate test data and to ensure clear vision after surgery.
