[Information] Glass-walled ISO 14644-1 US federal standard class 1 clean room: About a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter that does not allow coronavirus, bacteria, and dust to pass through the operation room

The HEPA-Filter used in the operating room of Sapia Tower Eye Clinic Tokyo has a particle collection rate of 99.97% or more for particles with a rated air volume of 0.3 µm and an initial pressure loss of 245Pa or less. This has been stipulated in “Air filter to have” and Japanese Industrial Standards.

It is said that the size of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is not too different from that of the known coronaviruses.

Not only coronavirus, but also PM 2.5, an air pollutant whose rising proportion in the air has been a matter of concern for a while now, or cedar pollen, which is one of the causative substances of pollinosis, can be collected perfectly; therefore, please do not worry about surgery.

Not only in the operation room, we also have taken the following measures to prevent the new coronavirus infection.

  • Our hospital is advance reservation only. We accommodate people staying in the clinic by adjusting reservations and devising ways to ensure that social distancing is maintained between patients
(especially recommended during the daytime on weekdays).
  • Thorough disinfection of waiting chairs and inspection equipment for each patient
  • All staff wear masks and wash their hands frequently
  • Inspectors wear face shields
  • Acrylic partitions are installed at reception and counseling counter to prevent droplets transmission
  • A plastic panel is installed on the slit-lamp equipment at the time of examination to secure a distance from the doctor
  • An air purifier is installed to ensure regular ventilation
  • An alcohol disinfectant is kept at the entrance of the clinic
(please disinfect your hands when you come to the hospital.)
  • Sodium hypochlorite is installed in the clinic.
