Q:「How long will ICL surgery take?」「Is ICL surgery painful?」
A: Generally, the operation takes about 10 minutes for both eyes, and there is no pain because of the eye drop anesthesia. However, during the surgery, there is a feeling of being pressed in the eye. Also, if the patient is nervous and intense, he may get inflammation and a feeling of pain.

Q:「Can the patients see the scalpel?」
A: During the operation, the patients will see very bright light constantly, so they can not see the scalpel. Patients are conscious and they can hear the doctor’s voice. The surgeon will perform the surgery while talking to the patients about what to do next.

2 Differences with other clinics

Q:「Why is the surgery fee different from clinic to clinic?」
A: This is one of the highest questions from patients. There are several reasons, but I think the biggest reason is ICL surgery belongs to treatment which is not covered by health insurance. Unlike treatment covered by health insurance, for which the cost is determined by points, the price for ICL surgery is set freely by clinics. The prices of ICL vary depending on the warranty content, doctor’s surgery fee, the clinic’s location, and the waiting duration for the surgery.

Many patients can give the following 5 reasons for choosing our clinic.

  1. ① All surgeons in our clinic are expert instructors.
  2. ② Our clinic is directly connected to Tokyo station, so it is easy for patients from far away to come to our clinic.
  3. ③ The warranty period is 3 years.
  4. (Some clinics may have a shorter warranty period or if the re-surgery is necessary, they may charge the same surgery fee as the first operation)
  5. ④ Basically, no additional cost.
  6. (After the warranty period, the examination will also be charged)
  7. ⑤ Twice preoperative eye examinations make the postoperative power deviation less likely to occur.

3 About presbyopia

Q:「What should I do if I get presbyopia?」
A:Presbyopia begins to occur around the age of 45. If you find it difficult to see a short distance, you can wear reading glasses. If you do not want to wear reading glasses, you can also replace ICL lenses with bifocal intraocular lenses.
