In the preoperative examinations for ICL surgery, contact lens must be restricted for both the initial suitability examination (the first eye examination) and the examination to determine the lens power (the second eye examination).
Patients who regularly wear contact lenses might think that I can’t see without my contacts—this is inconvenient or Why do I need to restrict contact lens before the examination.
The reason is that contact lenses can affect the shape of the cornea. When the corneal shape changes, the refractive power (prescription) can also fluctuate. Hard contact lenses, in particular, tend to have a significant impact on the corneal shape.

If the examination is performed while the effects of contact lenses still remain, it may not be possible to accurately assess the eye’s original condition. As a result, this may sometimes affect the quality of vision after surgery.
Please stop wearing soft contact lenses 2 days before the eye examination

Please stop wearing hard contact lenses 2 weeks before the eye examination

Patients who find it difficult to comply with the two-week restriction on contact lens wear, it is possible to switch to soft contact lenses for two weeks, and then simply refrain from wearing them for two days before the examination day.

Patients who wish to minimize the contact lens wear restriction can undergo the 2 examinations on consecutive days.
After the examination to determine the lens prescription, patients may wear contact lenses up until the day before the surgery. On the day of the surgery, please do not wear contact lenses and be sure to visit the clinic with naked eyes or with glasses.

We ask for your understanding and cooperation for the more accurate examination results and safe surgeries.
