This time, we will talk about preoperative eye examinations which are often asked for ICL surgery.
At our clinic, you will undergo two preoperative eye examinations for ICL surgery.
The initial eye examination is an indication examination (to check if the patient can undergo ICL surgery or if there are any eye diseases), and the second examination is to decide the power of the ICL lenses.
Eye examination includes:
・Refractive examination (power of myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia)
・Visual acuity test (naked eye vision, corrected vision and confirmation of the power of glasses and contact lenses)
・Intraocular pressure test
・Corneal shape analysis
・Anterior eye analysis (check whether there is enough space to insert ICL lenses)
・Slit lamp microscopy Fundus examination by an ophthalmologist
And so on.
It takes about 2 hours for the first examination (initial indicated examination) which includes eye acuity tests by an orthoptist, examination by an ophthalmologist, and counseling by a counselor. The second eye examination to determine the power of the lens) takes about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
There is limit for contact lenses (please stop wearing soft contact lenses for 2 day and 2 weeks for hard contact lenses before the eye examinations), patients can undergo the second examination the next day at the earliest.
※The initial eye examination and the second eye examination can not be undergone on the same day.
We will also explain the eye examinations in detail at the free briefing session, please feel free to contact us if you are interested.
